How to disable Windows XP Control of USB Devices

Windows Xp is configured to control the DC power to USB devices. 

This can cause problems with USB devices resulting in 
pop up windows "insufficient resources for the USB device"
This can also manifest itself in other USB problems.



This tech note will solve that problem:

START--> CONTROL PANEL --> SYSTEM --> HARDWARE -->
DEVICE MANAGER --> 

Go to the bottom of the screen, Choose Universal
Serial Bus Controller


Locate each USB Root Hub

Right Click on the USB Root Hub

Select Properties

Select Power Management

UNCHECK the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off the
device to save power"

Select OK

Repeat these steps for each USB ROOT HUB

Reboot.
